Founded in 1975 by Mr. Robert McAngus, its Chairman and CEO, EMG began its business as a commercial aircraft broker – buying and selling passenger and cargo aircraft to both established and start-up airline operators.
That business grew significantly during the mid-1990s and expanded into aviation-specific financing and aircraft leasing, working with and in cooperation with many of the world’s leading financial institutions.
By 2000, Mr. McAngus’ institutional and personal networks provided the foundation for a further global expansion into non-aviation project financing, while expanding its aviation-related activities to corporate aircraft brokerage and financing.
In 2005, EMG’s core business is facilitating medium-to-large scale project financing in cooperation with fund pool managers, investors, project developers and leading international banks.
Currently, some 200 corporate projects with a combined value of U.S. $10 billion are under consideration for action.
The following examples provide a recent snapshot of the scope and scale of loan projects arranged by EMI. They include, in part:
- The sale of two Boeing 737 passenger aircraft to a European operator
- The sale of three Boeing 727 cargo aircraft to a South American operator
- Financing for an oil project in South America
- Financing for a hotel purchase and property development in Spain
- A loan for the development of an apartment complex in Spain
- A loan for the construction of a factory complex in Brazil
- Financing for the construction of a sporting goods manufacturing facility in China.
EMI’s business expansion into the European, Middle East and Far East markets will open the door to the development of new regional opportunities throughout Europe, North Africa, West and Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.
